Despite temperatures soaring over 100 degrees in Sacramento on Friday, the MLL All-Stars put on an impressive display in the MLL All-Star Game Skills Competition at Cherry Island Sports Complex. Connor Buczek (Hardest Shot), Will Manny (Accuracy Shooting) and Scott Ratliff (Freestyle) claimed the titles in each event and $1,000 in prize money.
Buczek shot 112 mph in the Hardest Shot contest after posting readings of 108 mph in his first two shots. He is developing a reputation for a bullet shot with two two-point goals this season and 11 two-pointers in 30 career games.
Will Manny picked off all six targets in the accuracy shooting with time to spare on his 30-second shot clock. The newly acquired Lizards attackman has 23 goals this season, including five in his New York debut last week.
Scott Ratliff plays midfield with a longstick, but the Blaze utilize him as a offensive weapon with four goals, including a two-pointer, this season. He showed off that skill with a dunk from behind the cage.
Maybe the highlight of the night came from rookie Zach Currier, who pulled a young girl from the crowd to help him pull off a hidden ball trick in his turn in the freestyle competition.
The 16th MLL All-Star is set for Saturday night at 7 PT/10 ET at Papa Murphy's Park in Sacramento. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network and if you're in the area, tickets starting at $20 are still available below.
