More than any other sport, professional lacrosse players play a pivotal role in the health of their game by passing on their knowledge through coaching. MLL Press Box will highlight the current players in MLL who are carrying on that coaching legacy at the collegiate and high school levels in the Coaches Corner.
University of Utah - Marcus Holman, Will Manny, Adam Ghitelman
The Utes improved to 3-0 on the season with a 15-11 win over UNLV on Monday. Marcus Holman (Ohio Machine), Will Manny (Boston Cannons) and Adam Ghitelman (Atlanta Blaze) have helped guide Utah to a No. 11 ranking in the MCLA Division I poll. Next up for Utah, a Friday night showdown with the No. 13 team in the country, Arizona State.
Stony Brook University - Joe Spallina
The New York Lizards coach has guided the Seawolves to a 3-0 start, outscoring their opponents by a 49-17 margin. No. 7 Stony Brook will face its toughest test of the season on Sunday when it hosts No. 11 Northwestern at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
Jacksonville University - John Galloway
The Dolphins are still looking for their first win of the season after a hard-fought 16-8 loss to No. 20 Ohio State last Saturday. Galloway (Rochester Rattlers) was encouraged with his team's performance in that game, despite the end result.
"I told the team after the game how incredibly proud I was of their fight," Galloway said. "While losing still cannot be accepted, today we were beat by a team that was just a little better. With that said, we went toe to toe with a big time program and never flinched. The film supported my feeling during the game. We won the first and fourth quarter, but I must give credit to Ohio State's faceoff unit and extra man unit for making us pay in critical moments. This was certainly our best outing as a team this spring, and I look forward to going back on Monday with this group of young men who proved they won't quit on the challenges ahead."
