LaxDraft LaxStat of the Week:
Denver Outlaws goaltender Jack Kelly’s twenty-two save performance against Ohio is the LaxDraft LaxStat for Week 12.
Meeting for the first time since last year’s MLL Championship game, the Outlaws both defended their crown and maintained the top seed in the league with a 13-11 win over the Machine. Kelly’s performance was a key factor in the Outlaws victory and earned him the Coca-Cola Player of the Game. With neither team leading by more than two goals for the majority of the game, Kelly’s goaltending proved the difference in the end as he saved 22 of the 33 shots on goal. Entering the half tied at 10-10, Kelly saved thirteen shots and limited the Machine to only four goals to help secure the win for the Outlaws.
The product of Brown University was selected in the seventh round (57th overall) of the 2016 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Outlaws. Going 6-1 as a starter and leading the team with a save percentage of .545, Kelly became the first goalie to be named the Cascade Rookie of the Year in 2016. He has continued his success this season with a current save percentage of .562, making him second overall in the league.
